Tuesdays are my date with Theo. After dropping an excitable Archie off at preschool, the world is our oyster, well more like Herefordshire but there’s only so much one mum and her boy can do up until 3.30pm.
This week we ventured across the border into Worcestershire, to our new favourite lunchtime spot. Laylocks Garden Centre to be exact. I know I’m totally biased as Mum and Dad run the place but even if they didn’t I’d still be a regular.
They’ve had a major revamp. A shiny new menu, the best coffee around, a totally transformed interior and the most beautiful olive trees you ever did see.
Any Mum would know that good coffee, fresh food, outdoor seating and a CONTAINED play area is a recipe for a peaceful lunch. Well, as peaceful as it gets with kiddies around!
Theo had a date with the gorgeous Harper, his second cousin once removed or something similar. (Tash, Harper’s Mum is my second cousin, so they’re kinda related, somehow! Claire, Tash’s Mum also came along to keep Grandma company and compare Grandma notes.
We had the loveliest catch up, there’s nothing quite like having a chinwag with another mum. It feels so good to know you’re not alone in this crazy yet wonderful world of motherhood.
I managed to drink a whole HOT, latte, whilst Grandma fed Theo his extensive lunch and then we ordered from the fresh new menu. We had a mixture of toasties and their famous doorstep sandwiches with watering cans full of skin on fries, homemade slaw and fresh salad. It was all totally delicious.
I spied the farmhouse platter on it’s way to another table, I had to capture it before it was devoured. Look at this beauty.
With full tummies and a very restless Theo we decided to get ourselves into the blossom filled play area. Boy did Theo play hard in here.
There was no way Theo could escape as it’s all fenced, so we chatted over another round of teas and coffees and watched Theo and Harper loving every second.
When I take a bad photo, I take a REALLY bad photo!
We then said our goodbyes, but not before a quick mooch around the most beautiful everlasting flowers.
After sleeping all the way back to Preschool, Theo woke to greet his brother with the loveliest excitable jig. If only he could tell Archie what fun he’d had.
I think it’s safe to say, this date went pretty well……
Thanks for being here.
